PERCEPTION, PRÉFÉRENCES ET SOUHAITS DES POPULATIONS SUR L’IMPORTANCE DE L’ARBRE DANS LE PAYSAGE URBAIN ET PÉRIURBAIN DE LA VILLE DE KORHOGO

RESUME : Les arbres urbains et périurbains jouent un rôle important au niveau de la
santé et du bien-être des citadins et fournissent des biens et services, entre autres, on
peut citer la régulation du climat et la préservation de la biodiversité.
Malheureusement, ces arbres subissent de fortes pressions anthropiques d’intensité
variable mais en augmentation constante de la part de la population citadine ces
dernières années. Sachant que les citadins agissent à l’égard des arbres sur la base de
la signification que ces arbres ont pour eux, l’objectif de cette recherche est
d’analyser la perception, les préférences et les souhaits des populations de la ville de
Korhogo sur l’importance des arbres urbains et périurbains. Pour y arriver, la
recherche documentaire, l’enquête de terrain et des observations directes avec prise
de vue ont été effectuées suivant un échantillonnage aléatoire stratifié de 242
habitants dans 8 quartiers (4 anciens quartiers et 4 nouveaux quartiers). Les résultats
montrent que des citadins perçoivent bien l’importance des arbres urbains et
périurbains en termes de services écosystémiques (approvisionnement 86,8% ;
régulation 90,1% ; support 11,2% et culturel 3,5%). Ensuite, ils préfèrent les arbres
fruitiers comestibles (le manguier (90,9%)) que des arbres esthétiques. Enfin, ils
souhaitent que les décideurs prennent des dispositions pour protéger les arbres
comme dans certains pays limitrophes (74,4%), les aident à entretenir leur arbre
(35,5%) et leur donnent gracieusement les plants (20,3%) pour les planter dans leur
concession. Vue les menaces, une gestion durable des arbres urbains et périurbains
mérite d’être menée

ABSTRACT:

Perception, preferences and wishes of the populations on the importance of the tree in the urban and peri-urban landscape of the city of Korhogo
Urban and peri-urban trees play an important role in the health and well-being of
city dwellers and provide goods and services, among others, we can cite the
regulation of the climate and the preservation of biodiversity. Unfortunately, these
trees are subject to strong anthropogenic pressures of varying intensity but which
have been steadily increasing by the urban population in recent years. Knowing that
city dwellers act towards trees on the basis of the meaning that these trees have for
them, the objective of this research is to analyze the perception, preferences and
wishes of the populations of the town of Korhogo on the importance of urban and
peri-urban trees. To achieve this, the documentary research, the field survey and
direct observations with shooting were carried out following a stratified random
sampling of 242 inhabitants in 8 neighborhoods (4 old neighborhoods and 4 new
neighborhoods). The results show that city dwellers clearly perceive the importance
of urban and peri-urban trees in terms of ecosystem services (Supply 86.8%;
Regulation 90.1%; Support 11.2% and Cultural 3.5%. Then, they prefer edible fruit
trees (the mango tree (90.9%)) than aesthetic trees. Finally, they want decisionmakers
to take measures to protect trees as in some neighboring countries (74.4%),
help them maintain their tree (35.5%) and give them the seedlings (20.3%) free of
charge to plant them in their concession. Given the threats, a sustainable
management of urban and peri-urban trees deserves to be carried out.
